Story
When our clients were ready to move their growing family from their Somerville condo, they began searching for the perfect single-family home. After two years without success, they decided to shift their approach — instead of finding the perfect house, they would find one with potential and transform it into a home they loved.
They purchased a pre-1930s Cape in Winchester. While the small rooms and heavy paneling didn’t fit their lifestyle or design aesthetic, the yard and location were exactly what they wanted. We earned their trust by listening closely to their vision and sharing their excitement for the possibilities.
Hired in a design/build capacity to manage the project from start to finish, we helped them create an open, airy, contemporary floor plan with an updated kitchen, additional baths, a master suite, mudroom, and first-floor laundry — all within the existing footprint of the home. “We have lived in the Boston area for 13 years, but our design tastes are definitely not traditional New England,” the client shared.
We brought in an architect to design a plan that met every need within budget, without enlarging the home. The architect noted, “It’s a very efficient process to work with Morse because we work as a team. Morse estimates construction costs as we go so we know we are proposing designs that are financially feasible.”
A little more than one year after closing on the purchase, our clients moved into their transformed Winchester home. “We couldn’t be happier with our decision to renovate,” they said. “Throughout the project, the Morse team kept our priorities in mind. The result reflects our vision and our lifestyle perfectly.”
